Laura, Barcelona
These days, I live in New York and work as a receptionist for a Diplomatic Mission at the United Nations. I am also getting my Master's Degree online. I use English every single day at work, on the street and with my friends. I also read, listen to music and watch movies in English.
I attended Manhattan Language from April 2007 to May 2008. Manhattan Language classes and activities improved my English, especially at a conversational level. I became less shy and more open to people from all over the world, learning about their cultures while having a great experience in a city like New York.
I had many favorite teachers but the teacher that I had for the longest period of time I never got tired of. He was really clear, organized and practical, but at the same time amazing, entertaining and surprising. He was really smart and patient. While I was a student, there were so many great moments that happened every single day - during class, during break time, on the activities. I'm not able to pick just one. Manhattan Language is still part of my life now.
I would totally recommend Manhattan Language to anybody who wants to learn English in a nice atmosphere. It is a serious school when it comes to learning and the administration, but it is really lively, fun and dynamic at the same time. In my opinion, this is the perfect combination.
Madeleine, France
While I was at Manhattan Language, I really enjoyed all my courses. I'm very grateful for the opportunity I had to learn and improve my English skill.
Even though I now live in Paris, where as you know we speak French, I enjoy reading in English only. In two years, I haven't read a single novel in French! I am also lucky because professionally, I mostly work with people who speak only English.
Another thing I liked about Manhattan Language is that I met some great people who are still good friends of mine, whether they are now in New York or back in their respective countries.
Finally, at Manhattan Language I learned that practicing a language every day is the best way to improve it. That's why I continue to watch English TV, such as CNN, BBC World News and SkyNews. I also try to go to English-language movies as much as possible.
Hyunjoo, Korea
I live in Seoul now, and I have become an English teacher, which I never imagined becoming. Being confident in English got me many friends from other countries as well as a job.
I attended Manhattan Language from 2006 to 2007. When I arrived in New York, it was pretty difficult to deal with small things like going to a bank or seeing a doctor. I had studied English before in Korea but after taking classes at Manhattan Language, I was able to manage everything myself.
I strongly recommend studying at Manhattan Language. First of all, you can actually "learn" what English is. You learn not only grammar, vocabulary and writing but also how to communicate with Americans and people of other cultures. I have such great memories of studying at Manhattan Language.

I live in Astoria, Queens now and I am a professional photographer. Check out my site at www.photographerfrank.com. I attended Manhattan Language from 2006 to 2009, and I improved my English a lot. I started at the beginner level but when I finished school, I was at the advanced level.
My teacher was able to explain grammar very well. I was also able to make friends from many countries, which is very precious to me.
I really recommend Manhattan Language because of the good teachers, kind staff and reasonable price.
Bianca, Switzerland
I live in Zurich now. When I came back to Switzerland in September 2010, I found a temporary job at a well-known Swiss bank. Now I'm working permanently there as an Operations Service Specialist.
I attended Manhattan Language from January to July, 2010. In January/February, I came to New York as a tourist and was glad to find the Non-intensive English for Tourists Program. In the morning, I took the Late Morning Schedule, which included the Integrated Skills class and Business English as an elective.
My favorite teacher was Anthony, the Business English teacher. I loved that we could be creative and imaginative and create companies or situations in which we could use the learned skills.
As for the city, New York is a place that gives you power and inspiration. While there, I also had a great time interning at an Internet start-up company called Postling.
Another great memory is the fund-raising bake sale that Manhattan Language held to help the victims of the Haiti earthquake. Teachers baked cakes and pies and collected money. It was a great way to encourage the students to donate.
I definitely would recommend Manhattan Language to others. I loved the atmosphere at the school, and the teachers were professional.
Dani, Barcelona
I am now working and studying back in Barcelona. I attended Manhattan Language in 2008 for 6-7 months.
The difference between my English level before going to the States and when I came back to Spain is pretty big. I can say that I am a completely different person after living there. I see things, people and life from a very different perspective after living in New York on my own.
I would recommend Manhattan Language because the teachers are all very different but nice in their own ways and the staff is helpful as well. The location of the school is perfect, since it's in the heart of Manhattan.
The school also offers activities every week, so you have the chance to meet people, too. My favorite memory is probably going to St. Nick's Jazz Club in Harlem one summer night.
Cem, Turkey
I am a Teaching Assistant and PhD candidate in Memphis, Tennessee. I went to Manhattan Language from 2006 to 2007. I began at the intermediate level and finished at the advanced level. I also took the TOEFL Preparation Course at Manhattan Language and passed the TOEFL IBT for my PhD application.
Manhattan Language was spectacular. I met native English speakers for the first time there. It is a good place to learn English and it is not expensive. It's hard to talk about one teacher. I think the teachers were all into their students, in terms of teaching. I became a more competent speaker at Manhattan Language.
New York City was beyond my imagination. I love the cultural diversity in the city. My favorite memories are the perfect vistas in New York. I have a couple of favorite scenes - the view of Manhattan from the upper level of the Queensborough Bridge and the view from the Long Island Expressway (especially at midnight). However, but the best view is from the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. It captures all of Manhattan and more!
Sean, Korea
I live in New York now, in Astoria. I was at Manhattan Language from 2007 to 2008, and my English improved a lot, especially my grammar. I didn't realize that what I knew was very distorted until I came to Manhattan Language. Thanks to the school, I could fix my mistakes and I was able to use correct grammar in specific situations. Also, I could pass the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) Exam, which is in English and is difficult.
I love Manhattan Language because every employee is warm and kind. I felt that they were my relatives or family members. The school's well-organized events and field trips let students get to know lots of people from all over the world.
If you are thinking about a language school in NYC, this is the one you are looking for. I highly recommend Manhattan Language.
