| Every six weeks at Manhattan Language we ask our students to evaluate our program and school so that we can find new ways to improve our curriculum. We always get a variety of interesting responses, but there is one constant and that is the admiration our students express for their teachers. The high quality of our program is due, in large part, to our excellent teaching staff. Our teachers have all completed university degrees, teacher training programs, and have many years of teaching experience. We are proud of our teachers at Manhattan Language and would like to introduce them to you. |

Ryan |
When we asked Ryan what his favorite ESL resource was, he said it was his mother who also happens to be an ESL teacher. After spending several years teaching throughout Central and South America, Ryan returned to his native New York and began teaching at Manhattan Language. Though he looks solemn and serious, many of his students have told us quite a different story. A current student of his, Enisy Simone said, ¡°He has so much energy. He is a fabulous grammar teacher and a comedian at the same time. We love him.¡± |

Kathleen |
| Kathleen came into teaching with a background in business but her desire to experience other cultures led her to teaching. After spending several years traveling and teaching in Spain and South Korea, she returned to New York and decided to continue her career in ESL because she loved teaching. She describes her teaching style as very student centered. In her Business English classes she always finds ways for her students to practice their skills in the real world. She has introduced them to entrepreneurs and organized task centered visits to New York City corporations. Kathleen feels that the best part about living in New York City is that there are always new doors opening and new worlds to explore. |

Jason B |
| Jason came to Manhattan Language after teaching English and TOEFL in Spain and the Czech Republic for nearly a decade. He is the TOEFL and College Skills / Pre-TOEFL teacher at Manhattan Language. He works diligently to adapt his course as the test changes to insure that his students master all the skills they need to get a high score. Jason's classes focus on developing and perfecting the skills his students need for each aspect of the test. Every month Jason interviews former students who have taken his class and passed the test so that he can look for new ways to improve his curriculum. He also works hard to make sure that his classes are challenging and accurately reproduce the conditions of the actual test. ¡°I want to make sure that there are no surprises for my students on the day of the test. Once they have the right skills and know what to expect, they will be able to get the best score possible.¡± |

Leticia |
| Leticia first came to Manhattan Language as a student when she came to brush up on her Spanish in our Level II Spanish class. She enjoyed being in the classroom so much that she decided to leave her job in television and get her teaching certificate. She has an infectious enthusiasm for teaching that draws anyone passing by into her classroom. She has also been able to use her connection in television to enrich her classes. In her English and Culinary Arts Class, her students were given the opportunity to practice their English backstage and even on air at the TV show Emeril Live. According to a former student, Zully Sotello, ¡°The best thing about Leticia's class is that you can't be shy or quiet, she just won't let you, and that is very good for us.¡± |

Susie |
| Susie¡¯s began at Manhattan Language three years ago and quickly became known for her classes filled with laughter. ¡°What can I tell you? I love my students.¡±
When asked about her classes with Susie, Junko Itohara said, ¡°The best thing about Susie¡¯s class is that you learn so much but you don¡¯t even realize it until later because you are having so much fun.¡± Susie is also the activity director at Manhattan Language. Twice a week Susie leads students and friends on adventures throughout the city. ¡°Our activities are about seeing the ¡°real¡± New York, not the one you see in the guide books and movies. I want our students to see the hidden treasures of New York, the places that only the locals know about.¡± |

Matthew |
| Matthew has been teaching English for the past seven years. He discovered this passion while teaching Art and Engineering to young adults ten years ago. Matt spent two years in Japan, teaching English to children and young adults, and also taught international students planning to attend West Virginia University while he was getting his Masters degree in TESOL. Matthew has had the opportunity to develop and teach English through Art, a special elective course at Manhattan Language, which allows students to learn English and create art. It is a unique way to learn and practice English that goes beyond the classroom and takes advantage of all that New York City has to offer. |

Anthony |
| Anthony came to ML in 2007, returning to teaching after working for several years in the financial services industry in New York City. ¡°The cubicle is no match for the classroom. I missed the intense multicultural interaction with students and decided to go back to the job that has consistently given me the greatest satisfaction, teaching.¡± Anthony is a licensed high school teacher from Canada with over 14 years¡¯ experience. He has taught ESL in Japan, Greece, and France, as well as public school in the UK and Canada. He also holds an MBA and is responsible for teaching ML¡¯s afternoon and evening business classes in addition to his grammar and conversation classes. ¡°I have high expectations of my students and push them to do the best they can. But my main goal is to instill in my students the confidence and desire to pursue their goals, of which mastering English is often only a beginning." |

Jason C |
| Jason is a senior teacher at Manhattan Language with fifteen years of experience in ESL. He specializes in teaching students at the elementary and high advanced levels. When we asked him the secret of his success with such a wide range of levels, Jason replied, ¡°I like to create a very friendly atmosphere in the classroom so that everyone feels comfortable to express themselves without worrying too much about making a mistake or anyone judging them for their opinions. Once you create an environment where the students trust and respect each other, they can relax and rise to their full potential.¡± |
