 NEW YORK CITY |
NEW YORK CITY is the biggest city in the United States. It is a global center of commerce, finance, the arts and entertainment. NYC has many famous landmarks and is the birthplace of numerous cultural movements in fashion, literature, art, music and theather.
More than 8 million people live in New York. It is an incredibly international place. Around 170 languages are spoken and about 35% of its population was born outside the United States.
New York is perfect for walking but public transportation includes trains, a 24-hour subway, buses and the famous yellow taxis. New York is also called "The Big Apple", "Gotham" or "The City That Never Sleeps". It is divided into five boroughs - Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island.
Manhattan is the central borough and, of course, the location of Manhattan Language. Also in Manhattan are Central Park, Times Square, Wall Street, the United Nations, Greenwich Village and Museum Mile, where you can enjoy the Metropolitan, the Guggenheim and many other world-class museums.
Manhattan Language is in the central of Manhattan - a short walk from the Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden, Fifth Avenue and major subway, train and bus stations. |
